The historic cities of Benson • Douglas • Tombstone • Willcox are located within Cochise County. Tombstone is the location of the famous Gunfight at the O.K. Corral.

The City of Tombstone is home to The Tombstone Epitaph newspaper founded on on May 1, 1880 by John P. Clum. The Epitaph is the oldest continually published newspaper in Arizona. It’s home to the historic Boothill Graveyard. “Boot Hill” refers to the number of men who died with their boots on.
Cochise County is named for Cochise, leader of the Chihuicahui local group of the Chokonen and principal Nantan, meaning boss or leader, of the famous Chokonen and notable band of the Chiricahua Apache.
Sierra Vista is the largest city in the county. Fort Huachuca, a U.S. Army post, has been incorporated and is located in the northwest part of the city of Sierra Vista, Cochise County, Arizona.
Willcox is the birthplace of Rex Allen, known as “The Arizona Cowboy”, who wrote and recorded many songs, starred in several Westerns.
Willcox’s primary industries are agriculture, wine production, and tourism. The Willcox wine region produces 74 percent of the wine grapes grown in the state of Arizona.
