Conroe was incorporated in 1904
Conroe was the fastest-growing large city in the United States between July 1, 2015, and July 1, 2016.
The city is named after Northern-born Union Cavalry officer and Houston lumberman Isaac Conroe. Conroe founded a sawmill there in 1881. In 1886, Conroe Mill School was established in the expanding town.
The Central Business District in Conroe has outdoor performance venues at Conroe Founder’s Plaza and Heritage Place. This venue-area which host multiple festivals throughout the year is a huge attraction for locals and visitors.
