Jacksonville, founded in 1822, is on the northeast Atlantic coast of Florida, the most populous city in the state, and is the largest city by area in the contiguous United States as of 2020. It is the seat of Duval County. Its nicknames are: “Jax”, “The River City”. Its mottos are: “Where Florida Begins” and “It’s easier here”. It’s “The Bold New City of the South”.
