On 8 July 1951 Paris celebrated its 2000th birthday. The history of Paris can be traced back to a Gallic tribe known as the Parisii sometime around 250 B.C.
From a small community to becoming a larger city on both sides of the river Seine, the Left Bank was associated with Intellectuals and the Right Bank with Business. In 987 Paris became the capital of France.
