Quincy is the county seat of Gadsden County, and was named for John Quincy Adams, the sixth president of the U.S. It is located 25 miles northwest of Tallahassee, the state capital.

In the 1920s and 1930s the demand for Coca-Cola soft drink was high. People would spend their last pennies on the refreshing drink called Coca-Cola.
A banker named Pat Munroe advised his clients to buy stock in Coca-Cola at $40 a share. Failed economic policy caused the stock to fall to $19 a share. He still encouraged everyone to buy stock.
A single share with dividends reinvested is worth over $10,000,000 today, with dividend checks totaling tens of thousands of dollars every year in pre-tax income.
Quincy became the richest town per capita in the entire United States at the time. At least 67, appropriately dubbed the “Coca-Cola millionaires”, amassed significant fortunes before passing those fortunes on to their children and grandchildren.
