The City of Stonecrest is DeKalb County’s most populous city. Stonecrest was created when residents in the area voted in the November 2016 General Election to approve the city. In March 2017, elections were held to elect representatives for five city council districts as well as mayor.
Jazzmin Cobble, a former District 3 councilmember is the city’s first African American woman elected mayor of Stonecrest on May 24, 2022. The race had two core themes: ethics and moving forward. She won with nearly 63% of the vote. Cobble said “Our goal is… to continue setting the foundation of Stonecrest and setting it on a more solid footing”.
The area is home to the Mall at Stonecrest, for which it is named, as well as the Davidson-Arabia Nature Preserve, Flat Rock Archives, and Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area.
