Samoa is a Polynesian island country consisting of the two main islands of Savai’i and Upolu, two smaller, inhabited islands called Manono and Apolima, and several smaller, uninhabited islands.
Samoa is set to get its first female prime minister, Fiame Naomi Mata’af, in the small Pacific island nation of 202,000 people. On Monday, 17 May 2021, the Supreme Court validated Fiame Naomi Mata’afa’s April election win.
The 64-year old newly elected prime minister, Fiame Naomi Mata’af, had already been Polynesia’s first female deputy prime minister and will be only the second woman in the region to head a government.
